Will it be weird if I come on my own?
Not at all! Most of our attendees come alone. While it’s a beautiful experience to attend this retreat with a sister, friend or other loved one in your life, sometimes magic can happen when you attend alone. This is especially true if coming alone is way out of your comfort zone! In our sharing circles you will have the opportunity to share anything that’s going on in your life, and it can be very freeing to not have anyone in the circle who knows you from outside the retreat.
At our retreats there are no expectations of you on how to be. You are welcome and loved, just as you are.
Am I too old/young/unfit for this retreat?
Absolutely not! We have had women in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s attend our retreats and several have said it was a life changing experience for them. There is something wonderful about coming together as women and lifting one another up, no matter what your age.
As for fitness and mobility please just let us know of any limitations you have and we can design a yoga class to suit you. These retreats are open to all abilities.
Can I attend if I’m pregnant?
Absolutely! We would love to have you and your additional little soul in our circle. Please just let us know how many weeks you are so we can design a yoga class to suit your growing body, advise the kitchens of your dietary needs, and of course put you in a bedroom close to the bathrooms! Pregnancy is a magical time and we would be honoured to be a part of your journey.
I live in Taupo, can I stay home and just attend during the day?
Unfortunately not. We do run a closed container while on retreat, which means that we minimise contact with the outside world. We want to create a nourishing experience for you, where just for these three days you don’t have to worry about anything except where you next need to be. We find that if you are heading home to cook dinner, put little ones to bed, feed the cat or just be with a partner it can completely take you out of the experience. As women we give so much to everyone around us, 24/7, 365 days a year. If possible, please gift yourself this three days.
We understand that it’s not possible for everyone to stay away from home, so we have also created one day retreats, which are wonderful for mums of young kids, anyone who needs to stay at home and those for whom budget is an issue. Check out our upcoming events and sign up to be notified.
Can I use my phone?
Not during sessions, and if possible we would encourage you not to for the entire weekend. Ideally you will arrive, turn your phone off and leave it in your bag (or even better, your car!). It’s a good idea to turn it to Flight Mode before so you can use it to take photos if you like.
We understand that people like to check in with family, and if you do need to check in please keep it to a quick call and try not to go down the rabbit hole of social media, email and messaging people back. We spend so much time on our phones, and we really encourage you to take these three days and notice how you feel without it.
What is cacao?
Cacao is raw chocolate in its purest form, made from crushed cacao beans. It is minimally processed, retaining its natural, nutrient-rich properties. We use cacao in our retreats to create a heart-opening and soul-nourishing ceremonial drink. Cacao is believed to enhance emotional well-being and provide an increased sense of connection to self and to others, making it a central element in our sharing circles. We source our cacao exclusively from Fly Kakao, and we prefer their signature blend because it is delicious and it has already been blended with the following ingredients:
- Organic wild, whole cacao beans, native heirloom strains with 55% cocoa butter, stone ground
- Organic panela, a 100% unrefined sweetener sourced from South America
- Organic Peruvian chilli powder
- Organic vanilla bean power harvested from Peru and Costa Rica
We also add organic coconut oil and filtered spring water to create the magical cacao we serve in circle.
